It is a matter of great honor and pride for 3i Logic that its Founder and CEO Yahya Faruqui was invited as a Judge at the Ilm Apps Challenge, Karachi hackathon, held on June 21-22, 2014 at Dot Zero, Karachi.
Ilm Apps Challenge is a country-wide competition conducted by the Pakistan Innovation Foundation on behalf of Ilm Ideas, funded by the UK’s Department of International Development (DFID). Ilm Apps Challenge is a series of interventions aimed at creating platforms for e/m-learning as well as local content aimed at improving the quality and reach of K-12 education in Pakistan. After brainstorming sessions conducted in May, 2014 and shortlisting, a two day hackathon was organized for the shortlisted participants which allowed them to refine their ideas with the help of mentors.
At the end of the hackathon, the participating teams pitched their ideas to a panel of judges that included Jehan Ara, Pakistan’s well know thought leader and President of Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA); Prof. Dr. Bernadette L. Dean, Pakistan’s highly respected educationist and Director of VM Institute of Education; Yusuf Jan, a well-known business leader, President of Dot Zero and former Chairman of P@SHA; and Yahya Faruqui, Founder and CEO of 3i Logic.The judges selected five ideas for literacy apps, each of which received a cash award of Rs. 25,000 and an invitation to participate in the boot camp before submitting final proposals for substantial funding to develop and test their apps.
